Fail With Confidence

Every year myself, as well as many other individuals, strive to change certain aspects of our life’s.  We may try to wake up a little earlier or eat a little different.  Whatever it is we are reaching for something to make a difference.  Some of you may not know where or how to make the changes necessary to be helpful.  Most of the time we lose inspiration or simply give in to our normal routines.  Have you ever asked yourself why you give in so easily?  We can change the way we do things and we do have the ability to keep going.  What if we pushed past that urge to give up and continued to build on the foundations that we have begun?  January isn’t the only month of the year to start a resolution.  Resolutions can be made at any moment or on any day.  We can change all aspects of our life whether it be relationships, careers, money habits, anything!

Rumor has it that January 21st of every year could be the most depressing day of the year.  How is it that some of us can enjoy so much of the holidays and our families and of course that amazing food and then the first of the year rolls around and we have a burst of energy to change the world and then weeks later we fall flat on our faces?  Is it that people are programmed to dream big and then the world tells them their dreaming to big?  Stop letting the world tell you how to move forward.  If you want to make changes and keep them here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Don’t be afraid to fail: Failing is how we learn, it is the most necessary thing to grow.  I fail every day in many aspects and yet I refuse to stop trying.  Fail with confidence.

  • Be consistent:  If you forget to be consistent then wake up the next day and try again.  Consistency will stick at some point and you will learn the habit.

  • Live to serve:  This is a recent concept that I have learned.  There is nothing in this world that we can take with us when our lives have ended.  The most meaningful and powerful feeling can be achieved from giving to and serving others.

  • Forgive:  This one can be really hard but it can also be really easy.  Let go of what you know others have done to hurt you, or what they have said about you.  Having the ability to forgive others is having the power to be the bigger person.

  • Be amazing:  In everything you do, do it with a pep in your step.  The day may crash around you but at least you tried to make it as amazing as possible. Whether there is a tomorrow or not, you will be remembered for your attitude and for the way you treated people.

Always remember that we are all striving for something.  There is so much commonality between people that we could use it to make a difference.  Your accomplishments are my accomplishments.  Love the most unlovable people and you will see a change in them.  Most importantly you will see a change in yourself.

February Bucket List

Looking for ideas to add to your bucket list?  There are a number of things to see while you are alive and well.

Many people make bucket list as a reminder of things they want to do before they die and yet most never succeed at fulfilling any of those things.  It’s thought of as something to do towards the end of life but why should it be?  Stop dreaming about things as if hopefully they will happen later in life.  Make a list every week or every month of things you want to try or accomplish.  It could be as simple as exercising or drinking more water whichever it is you are acknowledging what you want and bringing it to the forefront of your thoughts. A good question to ask yourself is “how will you fill your bucket?”  We want to fill our lives with meaningful purposeful things that make a difference. I think we all know that time slips through our fingers faster than we can grasp it.  It is important to make the most out of every day even if it by taking the smallest of steps.

Here is my February list of things I want to do at this point in my life.  I may never do everyone but I am sure if given the opportunity I will do most.

  1. Take a Gondola through Venise Italy
  2. Visit a castle
  3. Zip Line
  4. Sleep on the beach
  5. Go sailing
  6. Ride horses along the coast
  7. Learn Italian
  8. Fly in a hot air balloon
  9. Take a cruise
  10. Do volunteer work

Take The Trip

Most people need the inspiration to plan a trip and there are some who don’t want to plan because it sounds like too much work.  Whichever it is don’t get stuck in this common funk.  Traveling opens your mind to a world of cultures.  If we didn’t travel we wouldn’t have much to talk about besides the normal day to day things like working, paying the bills, and raising our children.  I like to think of traveling as a new way to experience the world.  Memories are something that we can carry with us for the rest of our lives.  My husband and I took a trip to Maui, Hawaii a few years ago and the experience was a dream vacation.  I couldn’t possibly explain to you the amount of pure satisfaction that filled every vessel in my body.  If I could give any advice ever it would be to “Take the trip.”

People are collectors.  We like to collect things, we like to collect pictures, we like to collect clothes, the list goes on for an eternity.  There are numerous things the average person collects over their lifetime.  I was cleaning out my garage yesterday after a horrific washing machine break and was disgusted by the amounts of junk I had sitting out there.  My garage was covered in gallons of water and I had no choice but to throw away much of what was not in plastic tubs.  You don’t seem to care about something as much when it is drenched in dirty water.  The key to a happy life is not in the things that you own but in the memories that you collect.  There are so many trips you can take for little or no cost.  If you stop collecting things you will have money to collect the memories.

collect memories

Stop spending all of your earnings on the next best thing.  Love what you already have.  Keep what you use daily and get rid of what you haven’t used in the last year.  There is no reason to keep clutter around.  Its uninspiring and a demotivator. Visit your local events and restaurants.  I would rather enjoy a nice lunch outside with a friend than buy another purse or pair of shoes.  Take a lunch and sit at the park if you want to really save.  You will find that if you stop spending money on things to impress people you will have much more in your savings to take the trip.

Many trips are relatively cheap and last minute deals are a great way to save on a trip.  Even if it’s just a weekend trip it will be worth your while.  We once took an overnight trip to Santa Cruz for our anniversary and it is still one of my greater trip memories.  We walked along the beach boardwalk, ate fried twinkies, and enjoyed the ocean breeze.  Out of everything we did in that short 24 hrs, the indoor miniature golf in Neptunes Kingdom was something I will never forget.  We had some drinks, ate a fabulous dinner at Stagnaro Bros. and spent the rest of the evening in Neptunes Kindom playing golf.  We ended the night with a walk on the beach.  I think our total cost was less than $300.00 which isn’t bad for an Anniversary date.

Taking a trip doesn’t have to kill your budget or send your stress nerves haywire.  The more you adventure out the easier it is to get in the car and go.  I don’t know about you, but I want to spend my time experiencing life and not watching others live theirs on the television.

Attract Opportunity By Changing These Three Things

Opportunity usually shows up when you least expect it but there is always a reason it is knocking at your door.  Your probably craving opportunity, wishing it would show up and save you from reality.  When was the last time you had something great happen to you?  Not many can say that they live in total greatness day in and day out.  Most often we have to work really hard at it and maybe just maybe we will experience a moment of pure joy.  I’m a firm believer in the power of attraction.  What you put out in the universe is most likely what will be returned to you.  I have watched this first hand with many of people that I have met in my life.

Not everything in life is horrible.  Look hard to find good in every situation.  If anything you can say that you learned from it even if it was a terrible experience. Practicing gratitude can really help to boost your enthusiasm for positivity.  There is always something to be thankful for.  Have you ever noticed those people who get out of bed angry in the morning usually end up having a bad morning?  It’s like they welcome bad.  They get up all grouchy, stub their toe, knock the coffee grounds all over the counter.  It’s like dominos.  You are asking for a disaster.  Get up with the intent to have a good day.  You may still stub your toe and even knock the coffee everywhere.  Your reaction is what will decipher what the rest of the day will be like.  I dare you to be positive!

This is my least favorite thing to do.  I’m an introvert and I like my quiet time plain and simple.  Staying indoors gets me literally nowhere.  I MAKE myself get out and be social. Opportunity isn’t going to just show up at your doorstep and sweep you off of your feet.  You have to be present and let people know who you are and what you are about.  If you are staying home make sure you interact online.  The world of social media is an amazing place to get connected and show your style.  I have already found so many amazing people to follow.

Every day you slow your role, you diminish from the world of opportunity.  I’m a fan of taking care of business and putting things on hold when need be.  Just remember, while you’re away finding yourself, someone else is stepping in and finding connections.  Try to keep moving towards your goals.  There are days in the month where you will absolutely not want to do anything and that is okay.  Make sure your only letting it be days that pass by not months.  Find the time!  For more ideas on how you can work for yourself, check out Entrepreneur Like A Boss

This is probably the hardest one.  We love to compare ourselves to others and their accomplishments.  If we act like this or talk like that then maybe the people will love us.  No!  There is one you and that is probably your biggest and greatest chance for opportunity.  You have something amazing that no one else has.  It could be your style of writing or your talented photography.  Maybe you just have a really good online presence.  Whatever it is, use it to your advantage.  I like to follow people who inspire me and keep me on track.  So far I have found many bloggers of which all offer something different than the other.

Opportunity comes to those who seek it.  Put the work in and you will eventually see the rewards.

How do you invite opportunity?

Stay Motivated

Every year we start thinking about the changes we want to make in our life.  We get a pen and paper out, we make resolutions, and we are at our highest point of motivation.  I would love to say it is easy to stay at that highest point but I am guilty of slowly tapering off what was once a really good idea.  A little inspiration goes a long way!  Find what motivates you and keep doing that.  I find motivation in quotes, other inspirational writers, and daily journals.

  1.  Get up early – Have you ever heard “The early bird gets the worm.”  You can’t expect to sleep half the day and see amazing things happen.  Get up and get moving.
  2. Say yes – Yes it is important to say no but you also have to learn to say yes.  If friends want to start working out with you say yes or if you are invited to a party you should definitely say yes.  By getting out more you are opening yourself up to all kinds of opportunities.
  3. Eat more of those greens – More veggies and fewer carbs equal higher amounts of energy.  Recently I tried “The Makers Diet.”  It was a group thing and the first few days really sucked but then I started feeling amazing things happen.  I had more energy and even after I have finished I’m still continuing to make healthier choices.
  4. Take trips – I’m a huge fan of Spontaneous Adventure.  Don’t be afraid to explore your surroundings!  Make time to get out and experience new memories, you won’t be disappointed!
  5. Make a bucket list – Check out my post on why you should make a bucket list.  Bucket list keeps you motivated to accomplish those goals.  We need reminders to stay inspired.  It’s okay to have a yearly bucket list.
  6. Unfollow people who bring you down   We all have those friends that like to make us feel like we are below them.  There are already not enough minutes in a day.  Get rid of the people in your life that make you feel bad about yourself.
  7. Paint a wall – This is really therapeutic!  Sometimes we just need a change in color in our surroundings.  Go to Home Depot and pick out a color that makes you feel happy. Put some music on and paint away.  It’s a good way to get in touch with your artistic side.
  8. Make a space for you – This is important.  My space is a certain area on my couch.  I have my little table next to me for a coffee and my blankets.  If you want to be motivated you need to find a cozy spot to get in the zone.
  9. Daily Affirmations – Check out my post on Growing With Daily Affirmations for some inspiration.  You need to celebrate who you are and the only way to do that is to believe in yourself.  Daily affirmations can be a great way to give yourself positive feedback.
  10. Dream big – Don’t be afraid to dream big!  What is it that you want to change in your life?  This year I want to redesign my kitchen, take a trip to London, and start a new entrepreneur adventure.  It might sound ridiculous but who cares.  Shoot for the stars!

There you have it 10 ideas to get you motivated and to keep you on track for this amazing year.  Don’t forget to follow along for 365 Days Of Being Amazing!  January proved to be a fantastic month.  I can’t wait to see what February has in store.  Thanks for all of the FOLLOWS!

Spontaneous Adventure

When is the last time you took a spontaneous weekend trip?  If it has been more than a year then you must stop what your doing and make the time.

My husband and I are pretty polar opposite.  We like different music, different kinds of people, hell even different movies and t.v. shows.  He’s more action packed and I’m more inspirational drama. I don’t mind having these differences and I do believe opposites attract thus is why we have been together for over 15 years.  There is one thing that we have always shared a love for and that is travel!  Were both spontaneous and most of our adventure has been last minute throw your bag in the car and go kind of  travel.  Regardless of where you are going you will need to go through a list of questions to make it a smooth venture.

I imagine it is easy to get caught up in the excitement of what you are about to embark on but there are a number of things you will want to take into consideration before you leave the house.

I’m talking simple trips of course!  Some of our simple trips have been pretty local which make it easier to get ready on a last minute basis.  Since we are from California most of our local trips are in surrounding areas such as San Francisco, Santa Cruz, L.A.  and Northern California towns like Trinidad, Yreka, and Crescent City.

  • Where will you stay and is there in door swimming?

  • Where will you dine?

  • What entertainment is available?

  • What should you pack?

  • What is the weather like? Is it cooler at night, rainy, hot?

Just When You Thought You Had Everything

You don’t want to get a few hours into your trip and remember that you left your jacket hanging in the closet.  Of course you can always stop at a local retail store and buy one that is if your not driving straight into the mountains, but who want’s to spend the extra money.  Trips can get pricey as it is so it is a good idea to make list and ask yourself the important questions before you go.  Get in the habit of keeping a list of these questions lying around for those spontaneous trips to adventure land.

Review Review Review

I’m a huge fan of review sites anytime I am planning a trip.  Review sites are a fantastic way to get honest answers from other traveler experiences.  I personally like TripAdvisor because they give a list of highest rated places to visit in the city you are traveling to.

One of our favorite places to visit locally is San Francisco.  We usually type in google search best places to… this is how we found a restaurant on Pier 47 called Scomas.  This restaurant is set back along the pier where you might not see it unless you know it’s there.  It was a delightful dining experience and I was excited to find out that they use some organic ingredients (I’m a fan of eating as much organic as possible)!  Anyway, their food is amazing and fresh!

I also like to contribute feedback to travel sites so that people like yourself who are looking for real honest answers can trust they are getting the right information. You don’t want to visit a hotel that isn’t particularly geared towards young families with children and likewise you don’t want to visit a super family/child friendly hotel if you are looking for a quiet more peaceful romantic getaway.  There are a variety of sites that provide reviews for all kinds of hotels and local entertainment for those romantic getaways and or trips with the kiddos.  If your an adventurer like us,  you will want to keep these things in mind.
