I recently joined a few communities online that aligned with some future goals of mine and the information I’m getting is phenomenal! I was actually very surprised at how many people responded to my question about business. I think too often it easy to get inside your head and believe that it is stupid to ask questions or people will not engage the way you want them too. This is further from the truth and I encourage you to put yourself out there and get answers to those questions of yours. Now more than ever people want to connect and give value to others. So I came up with a list of questions I thought might be useful for the beginner business entrepreneur and I reached out to my community of like-minded people to get their valuable opinions.
I think there are certain questions we need to keep in mind any time we are considering taking on a new challenge or venture. We have to study everything about it and find out otherwise we are going into it blind and unprepared. It’s also a good idea to keep in mind that it is easy to become overwhelmed with these early stages and by asking the right questions we are easing the process of each task.
So I went through a list of questions that I thought might be important for starting my new business and I picked the question that I thought might make the most difference in my business.
As a new business, what are some of the problems you encountered starting out?
The response was great and I learned some really valuable things to keep in mind in these early stages. To give you an overview, here are some of the responses I found most important.
Believe your worth more than you charge.
Standing out in the crowd.
Learn how to troubleshoot. Know your product or equipment well.
Know your market.
Keep a checklist of what important so you are never empty handed.
Finding your niche and thriving.
Advertise in the right places
For my particular business, I found the checklist to be very valuable. You always want to be prepared in any situation. New ventures mean new and uncharted territory. This is exciting as well as super scary which tells me I’m doing something right. By pushing yourself outside your comfort zone you are welcoming a successful life in more ways than just income.
What are some of the problems you have encountered and how have you overcome them? Please share!
New business adventures are exciting. The early stages of the idea and the grand plan to put it all together can be the most fun stages of the whole process. One of the biggest challenges you might face is finding the time to do this. There are a number of people who might dive in full force. They quit their jobs and devote every second of the time that they have to their business plan. Others are not so fortunate and might have to stay employed for another company while they test the waters with their new business idea.
If you are continuing to work your normal job while starting the business, you want to make sure you are dedicating a certain amount of time every day to keep your motivation up. We go into these ideas with a clear picture of what we want to happen and if we are really in love with the idea we have a great energy force pushing us to continue towards these goals.
Creating a business can be hard considering it’s a very competitive world out there. You have to give time to your business and yourself in order to see real results. I have learned this first hand and have seen how easy it is to push it to the side when you are just absolutely exhausted. Here are a few important ways to make time for your start-up.
Get up earlier or stay up later. I’m a morning person so getting up earlier is what is right for me. I have a major boost in the morning and feel it is when I am most creative. For those of you night owls, try and stay up a little later when the house is quiet and you have that time to dedicate to your goals. I can’t stress this enough, even if you are totally exhausted you want to put in at least an hours effort to building your business.
Motivation videos are a major confidence booster. Okay, so many of you might find this to be corny (did I just use that word?) but seriously, if you don’t have a lot of self-motivation or that special someone that is going to get up and push you every day then a quick motivational video on the way to the store or work isn’t going to kill you. I like Napoleon Hill who is also the author of “Think and Grow Rich.” This is also a great read if you have the time.
Find ways to cut time in other areas of your life so you can devote more time to your business. If you work an eight-plus hour a day job and then you have to come home and cook dinner for another hour it is likely you will not have much time to give to your goals. I have been able to save time by purchasing a pressure cooker. I spend less time over the stove and more time doing what I really need to do. This is just one example there are many more ways you can prioritize and save time.
Finding time for your grand idea should always be a high priority. If you are passionate about what you are trying to achieve then finding time won’t be such a hard task. Always remember that starting a business takes time. It doesn’t ever happen overnight and you don’t want it to. You need time to take the necessary steps to have a successful business. I’m in the process of my next business adventure and I’m really trying to enjoy these early stages. Be mindful of what you tell yourself and don’t lose that burning desire to complete that goal. If there is anyone in this world who is going to stop you from doing what you set out to do, it is yourself. Stay motivated and remember that you are amazing and unique.
There are a number of creative ways to come up with a name for your business or website. A quick google search for new business names and you will find loads of blogs and websites with a pre-made list of fun and relative names for the curious entrepreneur. Seems a little too easy, doesn’t it? Well, it is pretty easy if that is the direction you’re trying to take.
I’ve had some practice in this particular area and know the struggles of trying to find that perfect name. This is the name that you want to imagine sticking in the minds of millions of people. So instead of scrolling through the countless list of names that people have selected for you, try coming up with your own. It takes time and consideration when choosing your name so don’t try to rush this process. The first step in finding your name is knowing what exactly your message is. What is your niche and how will your name tie into that? Most people get stuck on this part because they haven’t taken the necessary time to sit down and narrow their passions to specifics. Finding your niche is key to creating your name.
The most creative way I have found in making a new name is by using one of the biggest sources of definition. Often when we are trying too hard to find something, we never accomplish finding what we were really looking for. To come up with a name for your business you have to put in the work. Get fun with words. Go to your search engine and type in a word or words specific to your niche and look them up in the online dictionary. Look up the words synonym and also words related to that specific word. Put two words together if you want a two-word name. I found by using this exact method, you improve your chances of creating a unique name rather than a name that was thought up in the mind of another. Moreover, you get to experience the gratification of coming up with it on your own. Your name defines your mission and your mission defines you.
Key Things To Remember:
Finding a name takes time, don’t rush the process.
Pick a few names that stick out to you and then narrow it down to the one that you can’t stop thinking about.
Be creative! You took the brave step towards a new future and never-ending possibilities. Have fun with the beginning stages.
Have you ever woke up in the morning with this insanely great idea to do something amazing and then slowly let it disappear as you let the day to day requirements creep in? Creativity is often lost in the day to day autopilot programming that we live in. We get up in the morning with the intent to do everything that we did the day before and most often we spend the day thinking about what we’re doing tomorrow or the next day. Training your brain to be present and stay there is the most valuable practice anyone can do.
There have been so many times I have driven myself long distances only to realize I couldn’t remember how I had got there. Living autopilot isn’t the life I want to remember telling my great grandchildren about. Every morning brings new possibilities. Opportunity is always surrounding us, we just have to be awake enough to see them and take hold of them. I’m a huge fan of new ideas and creating new habits so with that in mind, I have decided to challenge myself and you of course. Follow along with me in practicing these simple (seriously simple) techniques to awaken your creativity. Daily practice is essential so if you plan to see any kind of results, don’t plan on being a slacker.
Wake up 30 minutes earlier than you already do. You can use this time to lie in bed and think about all the things you want to achieve. Focus on the things that are most important to you. I find creativity speaks loudest in those early morning hours of the morning.
Practice positive self talk. I have to admit this might be the toughest one. If anyone is the meanest to “me”, it is myself. I am guilty of consistently telling myself I can’t do it, what if they don’t like me, I’m not good enough. There is no need for all this pressure. Be kind to yourself.
Stop worrying about how you are going to do it. Make a plan, decide it’s what you want, and go for it. Details will fall into place. If you’re passionate about something then fight hard to make it happen. Too often I stop myself from achieving my own goals. Only I can change my circumstances.
~Always remember that you have a quality in you that no one else has. You can do all things through faith and persistence.~
Every year myself, as well as many other individuals, strive to change certain aspects of our life’s. We may try to wake up a little earlier or eat a little different. Whatever it is we are reaching for something to make a difference. Some of you may not know where or how to make the changes necessary to be helpful. Most of the time we lose inspiration or simply give in to our normal routines. Have you ever asked yourself why you give in so easily? We can change the way we do things and we do have the ability to keep going. What if we pushed past that urge to give up and continued to build on the foundations that we have begun? January isn’t the only month of the year to start a resolution. Resolutions can be made at any moment or on any day. We can change all aspects of our life whether it be relationships, careers, money habits, anything!
Rumor has it that January 21st of every year could be the most depressing day of the year. How is it that some of us can enjoy so much of the holidays and our families and of course that amazing food and then the first of the year rolls around and we have a burst of energy to change the world and then weeks later we fall flat on our faces? Is it that people are programmed to dream big and then the world tells them their dreaming to big? Stop letting the world tell you how to move forward. If you want to make changes and keep them here are a few things to keep in mind:
Don’t be afraid to fail: Failing is how we learn, it is the most necessary thing to grow. I fail every day in many aspects and yet I refuse to stop trying. Fail with confidence.
Be consistent: If you forget to be consistent then wake up the next day and try again. Consistency will stick at some point and you will learn the habit.
Live to serve: This is a recent concept that I have learned. There is nothing in this world that we can take with us when our lives have ended. The most meaningful and powerful feeling can be achieved from giving to and serving others.
Forgive: This one can be really hard but it can also be really easy. Let go of what you know others have done to hurt you, or what they have said about you. Having the ability to forgive others is having the power to be the bigger person.
Be amazing: In everything you do, do it with a pep in your step. The day may crash around you but at least you tried to make it as amazing as possible. Whether there is a tomorrow or not, you will be remembered for your attitude and for the way you treated people.
Always remember that we are all striving for something. There is so much commonality between people that we could use it to make a difference. Your accomplishments are my accomplishments. Love the most unlovable people and you will see a change in them. Most importantly you will see a change in yourself.
Please follow along on our next 365 days of being amazing!
Do you have a powerful story of a time when you gave up many times only to try again and succeed? Please share in the comments below. Let’s inspire people!
Each year we start with 365 days of having the opportunity to be amazing.
If you are given 365 days in a year to make choices that will help your future self then why is it that the majority of the population doesn’t take advantage of it. It is very easy to get trapped in the normal day to day jive of being average. Get up, get the kids off (if you have kids), go to work, come home, eat, go to bed and do it all over again the next day. You get stuck in a cycle of average comfort and once your there it is easy to stay there.
The easiest way to create change is by recognizing over and over what it is that is causing you to fall back into your old habits. We can’t expect our future to be different than our present if we keep making the same mistakes we have made time and time again.
Make a list of changes you would like to see in the coming year.
Start a new regimen. If it doesn’t work out, start another one until it does work out.
Make a list of triggers for bad habits. Learn to recognize and prevent these triggers.
Look around your home and get rid of something every week. Rid your home of unused items. No clutter equals more time for you.
Be a beacon of inspiration to others. Your ability to help others change will keep you motivated to stay on track in your own life.
Make healthy choices. Healthy choices are not exactly the most fun kind of choices but ultimately you will feel more energized.
Avoid negative people. I am in contact with negative people daily however, I chose to keep our contact to a minimum.
Learn something new every day. There is an amazing amount of things that can be self-taught. Get curious and get to searching.
Stay on track. Don’t let discouragement creep in and keep you from changing your life. Take a day or even a week if you need down time and then get to it and start again.
Be a producer of things and not a consumer of things.
You can break the cycle and change how you spend your 365 days. I think the most powerful lesson to take away is that you are only going to change your situation if you become the creator of it.
BE A PRODUCER OF THINGS
NOT A CONSUMER OF THINGS
Here are a few examples of things you can become a consumer of:
Social Media Accounts – How many hours are you spending scrolling through the feeds of everyone you follow. Be the creator of content and not just the consumer.
Shopping – Most of the time we go to the store for one thing and come home with 10 different things that were not on our list. Stop consuming things that will end up in the landfill in the next few months.
Get rich quick schemes – These are a waste of time. Stop scrolling through websites about getting rich fast. Most people who make thousands a month from their computer desk did it by creating content that was of value to others. Be a producer of valuable content.
The list can go on for eternity. By nature we are consumers. It’s okay to be a consumer of things that are valuable to your personal growth. Be cautious about where you allow your time to go.
Have you been looking for a way to freshen those closets? Strong laundry soaps are the common way to make the house smell good but is it really good for your health? I will let you be the judge of that! When it comes to my clothes I prefer a more natural way of doing things. Clothes are just the start, I also like to use my DIY Freshener to make the house smell AMAZING!
You can make a whole variety of different scents depending on which essential oil you prefer. If you are not savvy to the amazing world of essential oils, I will fill you in on some of my favorites.
Essential oils have been used for decades to not only improve health but also to provide aroma. Many different kinds of essential oils are used to make some of your favorite perfumes. Lavender is one of my favorites and I use it for most of my DIY cleaning. It is also known for it’s relaxing and calming benefits. Some even use it at night to help them sleep. Cinnamon bark and lemongrass are also very inviting in the home. If you are a young living fan than don’t miss out on Thieves essential oil. It smells a little like cinnamon and is said to have sickness fighting properties but again I will let you be the judge.
When using essential oils to make your DIY Laundry Soap or DIY fresheners you will want to have a glass container to hold them. Citrus essential oils can cause plastics to leach into your soaps and sprays. I like to buy the amber glass spray bottles because they look great on counters and are fairly cheap on Amazon.
That’s it! It really is that simple and it’s SUPPOSED to be. You don’t want all of those nasty chemicals you can’t even pronounce lingering around your home. I like to use this spray in my closets, on my clothes bins, and even on my curtains and bedding. You save a lot of money not buying commercial fresheners & cleaners. I don’t know about you but I like to save money and be natural at the same time!
P.s. Make sure your not allergic to any of the essential oils you chose and always find a test spot for any oil.
